Distribution: régions chaudes d’Europe et de l’ouest asiatique ; Espagne, France, Italie, Autriche, Pologne, Lithuanie, Croatie, Bosnie, Macédoine, Albanie, Roumanie, Bulgarie, N. Turquie, Ukraine, Oural, NW Chine} {Ebmer 1988: 689 ; Baker 1996 : 1529; Pesenko et al. 2000} .
Oligolègue sur Convolvulaceae.
Phénologie: Débute la deuxième moitié de juin en même temps que la floraison de Convolvulus arvensis.
Diagnose. La femelle diffère de S. planidens par la taille plus petite (8-9,5mm), la pubescence des tergites I et II grise, celle des tergites suivants brun noir, les flagellomères 2 et 3 plus courts.
Le mâle a les sternites 2 et 3 avec de longues dents, le tergite VII est largement émarginé postérieurement.

Diagnose. La femelle diffère de S. curvicornis par la taille plus grande (10-12,5 mm), la pubescence de tous les tergites brun gris, les deuxièmes et troisièmes flagellomères plus longs.
Le mâle possède au sternite II une dent latérale tronquée et un petit tubercule au sternite III. le tergite VII n'est pas émarginé postérieurement.
