Distribution. Niger and Congo basins: Senegal, Gambia, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, Côte d’Ivoire, Togo, Nigeria, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Gabon, Zaire, R.D. Congo, Angola, and Namibia. Over entire its geographical range, this species is sympatric in relation to C. muiri; in Niger, Mali, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, and Senegal, also in relation to C. variegatus.
Visited plants: Anacardiaceae: Mangifera indica (26 MM, 39 FF) . Asteraceae: Acanthospermum hispidum (5 MM, 1 F). Balanitaceae: Balanites aegyptiaca (1 F). Caesalpiniaceae: Cassia sp. (3 MM, 6 FF), Dialium cfr. soyauxii (7 MM, 2 FF). Capparidaceae: Crateva religiosa (1 M). Combretaceae: Guieria senegalensis (6 MM, 1 F). Euphorbiaceae: Antidesma venasum. Distribution. North Africa to Kenya, Gambia, Burkina Faso, Cameroon and Senegal in the south, southern Europe and warm places of middle Europe to Austria in the north, steppes and deserts of Western Asia to northern China, northern India and Mongolia in the east.
