Distribution: the species is Mediterranean and occurs also in central Asia to Mongolia; the nominal subspecies is endemic to Sicilia; various subspecies have been described: balearicus endemic to the Balearic islands; theseus endemic to Crete; thevestensis in North Africa; cariniventris in Europe, Asia to Mongolia.

Distribution. L'espèce pollinosus au sens large habite le bassin méditerranéen et l'Asie centrale jusqu'en Mongolie. La sous-espèce nominale est endémique de Sicile. Plusieurs sous-espèces ont été décrites : balearicus endémique des Iles Baléares; theseus endemique de Crète; thevestensis en Afrique du Nord; cariniventris en Europe et en Asie jusqu'en Mongolie.

Statut. Inconnu. Probablement stable.
